There is no Texas versus EPA. Texas is part of America, and EPA is a part of the law in America. It’s like saying, “My momma makes me do my homework, and I don’t want to do it.” Well, you know, your momma’s in control of you, and she’s going to make you do your homework whether you like it or not. The federal laws to protect the quality of the air — they’re just the law.
One certainly understands that this might appeal to TT’s progressive sensibilities. But it’s not quite as simple as “the law.” The EPA, as a largely unaccountable entity, has broad power to make rules that, in most cases, have never been voted on by Congress or signed into law by the President. The president can influence its rulemaking, hence the notion (represented by links here and writing elsewhere) that the Obama EPA has been “at war” with Texas.
