When seemingly every candidate has had a turn as frontrunner for the GOP, Ron Paul sits just a tick above where he almost always sits when he runs for President. The only thing keeping his campaign “afloat” is that Ron Paul seems to crave the platform enough to repeat this insanity again and again without any chance of winning. - Paul: Gingrich a 'flip-flopper' getting a 'free ride' – Carrie Dann, MSNBC

Wilson is an example of a new breed of power broker that has come into its own under Gov. Perry.
Not really a new breed or even a new thing. Gov. Perry’s long tenure has, arguably, allowed for more of these sorts of relationships, but where government favors are there to be doled out (even in a limited-government state like Texas), there will also be power brokers — it’s just that liberals tend not to be all that interested when their favored pols are in office.
The bigger the government (which liberal outfits like Texas Observer favor), the more such power brokers. As Mark Steyn puts it, big government makes for small citizens.
- Perry's slow movement on election results could cost county officials their jobs – Jason Embry, Postcards
Perry, who is in California today and Friday, plans to sign the election paperwork on Monday, spokeswoman Allison Castle said.
“It’s a statutory requirement that the governor can’t canvass for the constitutional amendments until the 15th day after the election but has to do so before the 30th day,” Castle said.
The Nov. 8 election was 23 days ago.
Embry is really stretching to slam Gov. Perry on this.
- Perry inaction throws off some officials’ filing plans – Patricia Kilday Hart, Texas Politics/Chron.com
A better way to frame the story. The state is hardly ceasing to function because some career pols may need to delay for a few days formalizing their plans to move up the political food chain.
